The School of Athens was a fresco created by Italian artist, Raphael. Around 1509, Raphael was commissioned by Pope Julius II to paint the rooms in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. In the fresco, Raphael depicts famous Classical philosophers, including Pythagoras (bottom left forefront, writing in a book), Plato (in red in left center) and Aristotle (in blue and brown in right center).

12. Pythagoras sedes apud Plato, audiendus maior. Pythagoras sits near to Plato, for the purpose of hearing better.
13. Zeta est bona argumentandus. The room is good for the purpose of discussing.
14. Philosophi legunt discendus. The philosophers read for the purpose of learning.
15. Philosophi venerunt visum alius philosophi. The philosophers came to see the other other philosophers.
